This past Sunday, we had our daughter Sofia prayed for for food sensitivities/allergies. She is almost 2.5 years and we have been dealing with these issues pretty much since birth.
Although things have improved over the past year, she was still extremely sensitive to corn. This meant that anything with corn syrup, cornstarch, or added vitamins were off limits. Obviously this pretty much rules out most commercially produced foods and medicines and makes eating out next to impossible.
Everything had to be made from scratch with special attention to spice mixtures etc. Even cakes and cookies were difficult because vanilla extract a common flavoring often has corn syrup added and even when it doesn't, the alcohol used in the extract is corn based.
Monday morning after we had her prayed for, we began to introduce new foods into her diet. She has been able to eat everything we have given her with no problems. (Her symptoms before included pain as evidenced by crying etc, sometimes a rash, and always loose bloody stools.)
What is also important to note, is God's timing in this. Because my husband, Aldo and I had attended the Healing Conference the week before, we hadn't seen her in four days. She was always sleeping when we came home at night, and again when we left in the morning. Because of this, she was unwilling to go to the nursery Sunday morning. Therefore, when Pastor Scott announced a time of healing for digestive disorders, she was there with us.
The other interesting thing concerning timing is that for corn sensitive people, passover time is the time to stock up on corn free foods not available any other time of the year (for some reason, corn is considered a no no in most passover foods). I was just telling my husband that I need to check and see if the foods were available in the markets yet so I could stock up on cookies, and condiments like mustard and ketchup. So now we no longer need to worry about that.
