Some people brought a paralyzed man on a mat to Jesus.  Jesus seeing their faith said, "Take heart, son! Your sins are forgiven."1
The teachers of religious law said among themselves. "Blasphemy! This man talks like he is God!"2
Knowing their evil thoughts, Jesus asked them, “Is it easier to say, 'Your sins are forgiven' or 'Get up and walk'?”
Jesus then said, “I will prove that I, the Son of Man, have the authority on earth to forgive sins."
Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, "Stand up, take your mat, and go on home, because you are healed!" 3 And the man jumped up and went home! 4
Jesus Christ came to this earth and performed many miracles.  He healed the sick.  He raised the dead.  He delivered people from spiritual bondage and oppression.  Most importantly, He came to give his life as a ransom, or payment, for the sins of mankind.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.” 5
Jesus came to heal.  Jesus came to forgive...
All have sinned

No matter your color, age, height, weight or sex, there is one thing that you have in common with all humanity.  You have sinned.  The Bible says, “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” 6  Listen to the voice of your conscience.  What sins come to mind that you know you have committed?  Lying?  Stealing?  Hatred? Lust? Greed? Blasphemy (taking God’s name in vain)?

God is holy and cannot overlook sin

The Bible repeatedly teaches that God is holy.  He is completely pure of sin and is separate from us in His nature.  God is also a just judge.  He must punish sin.

God will accept all those who put their faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins

“If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” 8

Simple prayer you can pray to God for the forgiveness of your sins:

Dear God, I know that I have sinned.  I want to turn from my life of sin and receive your forgiveness.  I believe that Jesus died for me on the cross and that he rose again.  I ask now that You would forgive me of all my sins based on Christ’s death for me.  Wash me clean and give me new life. Teach me to follow You and live for You.
